My father has colon cancer which has spread to his liver, prostate, lungs, lymphnodes and other organs. His colon is taken up by one big tumor which has now caused him to have an iliostomy and his liver is consumed with many small tumors. It is very advanced, he just turned 78...the doctors gave him 3 months to live. Is chemo worth it?? Right now we are telling him he shouldn't do it. I have taken care of 2 uncles and 2 grandfathers that had less cancer and were younger. Chemo didn't work and it only made them miserable. What do you think?

Well, the thing is like this, a lot of people from my mother's side of the family has died from cancer, but thank God my mother doesn't have it nor my brother. I would like to know if I am still at risk to get it. My dad had a surgery one year ago.It was a colon surgery and part of colon was removed.But it's not a permanent bag.So now his stool and gases pass to a colostomy bag.last week we met our doctor and asked him for the colostomy bag.At that time he told us, it's time to remove his colostomy bag.So we gonna remove the bag.Specially I have to mention something here with this.when my father faced for the first operation,doctor did a mistake.so my father had to face for 2 surgery.at that time father was I.C.U for 3 weeks and my father's situation was really bad.but fortunately he was recovered.
Now he is gonna remove the colostomy bag.So I wanna get more information about the surgery.How long does it take for this surgery and what's it like? is it serious operation or not?? what kind of things should we care about this surgery? and so far information I need this time..please be kindly enough to answer me as soon as possible...and make sure don't get this as a joke..

Is this health care in the USA as the Republicans would have it? Or is this another reason why health care reforms are needed in the USA?

We have been staying in a hotel for 2 months for her to get followup treatment and are running out of money for a room. Does anyone know of a hotel chain that gives free rooms to cancer patients who are receiving care away from home. Ok well my Uncle who already had lung,colon and lymoh node cancer we had suspected it and it was confirmed today that he has brain cancer I already know to spend as much time and stuff ok but its small but its in stage 4 final stage how long will he have to live he has no kids no wife so its just me and mom taking care of him we need to be prepared how long will he probably have they gave steroids to decrease swelling of brain and please tell me its a small one but they took the mri today and sent us straight to the doctor today the doctors said it was small and that was what was causing numbness in parts of his body so how long thy suggested hospice we have 10 radiations
he doesnt want hospice i love my uncle so much hes pretty much been the dad i havent ever had
the doctor couldnt give us a prognosis today he said he could say he has to check out the film he suggested hospice though andhe said when the time was right he would stop all treatment whether my uncle wanted it or not because it wouldnt help
he has a lot of nasal discharge and other people we know she lost a sister to brain cancer and said it was near the very end when she got like that
hes accepted but is very depressed about it but still cracks jokes and stuff

I can't believe this. My father in law left my husband and the whole family for another women and really didn't care about what her left behind. Only for everyone to suffer. My huband as not seen his father for like 4 years and now a month and 2 weeks ago he was in the hospital with pain. They found colon cancer, removed colon, the one week spreaded to his liver, and then 3 weeks after that it's in his lungs. He now has fluid going to his brain. I just can't belive that in the amount of time he went from walking around normal to know they say he won't make it to the end of the week. I guess I have to face and my husband to that he is just going to die and there is nothing we can change. I ca't belive a man could walk away from his family and not look back. There was not time to heal from this and now we all have to go on from this of what he did.

I guess my question is has anyone gotten to far with death like this and just pulled out of it? Thank you!

My father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in oct 04'. He went through a procedure where they take some of his insides our and re-tie. i heard it was called the whipple procedure or something like that. They were only able to take half of the cancerous tumor out and the other half they were hoping treatments would take care of it.

he is still alive and the recent news is that the treatments for the remaining cancer caused it to shrink 50%. so thats good new. the downfall is that they found a small bit in his colon, it is early that it can possibly be taken out. since it has been 2 1/2yrs fighting this, is it possible to be able to beat this?

my father is very possitive, the doctors are astounded that he has survived this long. Even the doctor who did his surgery called my fathers current doctor to see when he had passed and was shocked that he was still alive.
