Probiotics can help the gut stay healthy. Among healthy benefits healthy gut also means a happy disposition. Miso is a probiotic. Macrobiotics offers this school of thought on kidney health. I do think, however, Weston Prices' research on healthy people around the world and their high consumption of animal products and their good health is worth keeping in mind if embarking upon a macrobiotic diet for an extended period of time.
