PostHeaderIcon Father in law has cancer and to die any minute?

mamato5Boys asked:

I can't believe this. My father in law left my husband and the whole family for another women and really didn't care about what her left behind. Only for everyone to suffer. My huband as not seen his father for like 4 years and now a month and 2 weeks ago he was in the hospital with pain. They found colon cancer, removed colon, the one week spreaded to his liver, and then 3 weeks after that it's in his lungs. He now has fluid going to his brain. I just can't belive that in the amount of time he went from walking around normal to know they say he won't make it to the end of the week. I guess I have to face and my husband to that he is just going to die and there is nothing we can change. I ca't belive a man could walk away from his family and not look back. There was not time to heal from this and now we all have to go on from this of what he did.

I guess my question is has anyone gotten to far with death like this and just pulled out of it? Thank you!

Bowtrol Colon Cleanse

PostHeaderIcon Blood in rectum, almost positive it’s hemmorhoids, doc pushing colonoscopy?

Big G asked:

Went to doc for checkup for gastro problems we're monitoring ... doc did digital exam, found wee bit of blood ... same thing happened in 2003, had colonoscopy, colon was as clean as a colon can be, no polyps, no nothing ... issue was bleeding hemmorhoids ... am currently having another nasty hemmorhoid flareup, was afraid scenario would repeat itself, almost canceled appointment until flareup settled down ... told doc before digital exam, at first he acted like given that, it wasn't a big deal, then he did a 180 and started pushing me to have a colonoscopy almost immediately because I was "passing blood" ... will be 50 in Sept., know I'm going to have to start doing such things to take care of myself (will have PSA done day after my birthday), not opposed to having another colonoscopy done down the road ... just felt very pressured by doc to do it NOW, like he wanted a quick buck ... given my history (no colon cancer ever in family), is this that crucial a situation?
I am insured, but I worry about my insurance company starting to question me having a colonoscopy every time my hemmorhoids bleed ... as I said I don't mind having the test, it wasn't the most pleasant experience I've ever had but it's manageable ... the worst part was going potty so much during the prep turned a hemmorhoid flareup into an acute meltdown to where I was pouring blood, that took me a month to get over and I was afraid I would need surgery, I fear that happening again ... my issue was him going from "it's not needed" to "you gotta do this right now" on a dime ... he kept telling me that everybody preps on Sunday and does it on Monday and goes back to work on Tuesday, but my wife and I don't work normal Monday-Friday jobs and unless it's an outright emergency to where all bets are off, it can take us a month or two to coordinate our schedules for something elective like that ... I just question whether this is an emergency situation.
I am going to have the test, I was just thrown by my doctor going from "it's just hemorrhoids, it's not time for another colonoscopy" to "you need a colonoscopy urgently" before I got out of the exam room ... I've seen this doctor for years and I really no longer feel comfortable with him for several reasons, maybe this put me over the edge. I have another doctor in mind to start seeing and I may switch and he might very well tell me the same thing. Again, though, I'm not opposed to having the test. But I am not, unless there are some other factors present to convince me that it's a critical situation, going to have it done with an acute case of hemorrhoids like now. That was the case last time and while the prep wasn't all that horrible and the test was easy, going to the can during the prep aggravated my hemorrhoids to where I was POURING blood in my BVDs instead of a spot on a digital exam, and it took a month to heal. I will not consider having it done until I get over this bout.

PostHeaderIcon Do anal fissures always hurt?

meggurpanda asked:

I was never diagnosed, but Im positive I used to have them occasionally... Recently, twice, theres been a small but scary (to me) amount of blood with little discomfort and no pain, and I used to have sharp pains... I dont want to go to my doctor, no one where I get health care is any smarter than what I can find on the internet, and Im scared it might be colon cancer, but Im only 15.. Please help!

PostHeaderIcon Does this Paraphrasing remind anyone of Jimmy Carter?

Robert G asked:

At times, Mr. Obama struck a professorial note, lecturing Americans to stop smoking — without referencing his own battles to break the habit — and to seek mammograms and colon-cancer screening. Health care reform, he said, means going for a run, going to the gym, and staying away from video games. It also, he said, means laying off junk food.
